Today I visited the Twierdza Kłodzko, the Kłodzko fortress with Birgit, which as wikipedia says, is the largest and the best preserved fortress of its kind in Poland. And truly, it is worth visiting if you're anywhere around our little town.
They have an underground "labyrinth"; a lot of tunnels that go underground. We took the tour, and our tour guide not surprisingly was speaking only polish. And really fast. I didn't understand almost a single word he said but I will forgive him, for he was very polite. Underground it was moist, dark and the hallways were low and narrow. In many ways it reminded me of Finland's Suomenlinna (link). But the corridors went really deep underground. If you have even the slightest case of claustrofobia, don't visit.
We took the extreme route oczywiście.

After visiting the cellar, we went to explore the actual fort. The view from the top was amazing. The mountains are looming in the distance and the town looks bigger than it actually feels. And from this picture you can even see our house. We were just standing there with my flatmate and I told her what was going on my mind at that moment, just the feeling that this is actually our home. And it will still be for many months. And for me it truly feels like one.
Okay, boys and girls. I know guided tours can be very informative and all, but you will miss a lot of other things if you prefer to spend your time listening to someone repeat the same lines they repeat over and over again from day to day and reading signs that say "no entry". We decided to make our own tour.
I really can not tell you what this building was doing in
the fortress. There was a lot of almost locked doors and places like
this that fascinate me a lot.
But I can tell it wasn't built in 1129.
Things that make me happy at the moment;
-my awesome flatmate !
-yesterday I was at work waiting with 6-year-old Laura for her mom to pick her up. We did some english and maths and drew some pictures. I'm just happy to know that she is actually one of the people who hold the future of this world in their hands. Also when her mother came to pick her up, she was so nice and thanking me for doing this work. In general, the children make me happy everyday.
-this one makes me happy and a little bit unhappy at the same time; tomorrow I will start my 8 day journey through Póznan-Berlin-Dresden-Prague. Unfortunately my train leaves at 6:30 and I haven't even packed yet. Probably I won't be updating this blog that much, but I will try. But, na pewno after a week it shall be photo attack time again.
This updates piece of urban art from the abandoned house from twierdza. Kind of uplifitng.
